Proper Tattoo Aftercare
- Don't remove protective covering until at least 4-6 hrs. have passed.
- Wash immediately after with a mild soap and luke-warm water. Be
sure to wash off all residue. A clean white wash cloth will help.
- After being sure the tattoo has been properly washed and rinsed
clean, leave alone for the rest of the tattoo application day!
- From the second day on, keep clean with washing twice daily as well
as, use a moisturizing agent to keep the tattoo from scabbing and cracking.
We recomend first "Aquaphore Healing Ointment", or, Tattoo Goo which is sold in most tattoo shops.
If you cannot find any, then simple hand moisturizing lotion will do, such
as; "Curel lotion" or "Lubriderm". When using the moisturizer
use only a very small amount at a time , rub and massage it into the fresh
tattoo until none remains on the surface. Be sure to WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST
& ANY TIME YOU TOUCH YOUR FRESH TATTOO! Also, don't let any of your "friends"
touch your fresh tattoo until it is fully healed.
- Keep away from any abrasive surfaces or clothing on your fresh tattoo,
including synthetic clothing & nylons.
- Stay out of hot tubs, steam rooms ,tanning beds, soaking in water,
swimming pools. Use your common sense!
- Keep out of direct sunlight until healed, then after healing always
use sunblock when exposing your tattoo to the sunlight.
- Don't pick or scratch!
- Remember your tattoo will take from as little as 1 week to as much
as 45 days to heal depending on where it is on your body and how well you
take care of it during healing.
- Believe it or not, drinking lots of water, avoiding salt, sugars
and alcohol will actually help heal your new tattoo faster!
- Your tattoo looked good and you were happy with it at the tattoo
shop when the artist applied the bandage, it's now up to you and you alone
to keep it that way!
- Remember your protection, cause tattoos get you laid!
